Caledonia, Michigan — This Easter, Lavender Life Company is inviting families across the country to give a gift that keeps giving — one that brings peace to the child who receives it and hope to a foster child who may never have experienced either.

The Xander Friends collection — lavender-filled, warmable stuffed bunnies — was born from one family’s quiet desperation and one little boy’s struggle to sleep. Xander, the grandson of Lavender Life founders Vic and Vickie, couldn’t settle at bedtime. His grandparents turned to what they knew: the calming, scientifically backed power of lavender. They stitched it into a small, huggable bunny. Xander finally slept.

What started as a grandparent’s love became a mission. Today, through their nonprofit arm, Xander Community (XanderCommunity.org), Lavender Life Company has donated more than 100,000 Xander Friends bunnies to children in foster care across the United States. Every purchase of a Xander Friends bunny triggers a donation — one bought, one given.

“We never imagined that one little bunny for our grandson would become something that reaches 100,000 children,” said Vic, co-founder of Lavender Life Company. “But that’s what love does — it multiplies.”

Xander Friends bunnies are handcrafted with real dried lavender harvested on Lavender Life’s farm in Caledonia, Michigan. When warmed, the lavender releases its natural soothing scent — the same therapeutic comfort that helped Xander, now shared with children navigating one of the most difficult chapters a child can face.

The program has grown to reach partner communities in 11% of U.S. counties, with Iowa becoming the first state where every county has been covered — meaning every child in the foster care system in Iowa has received a Xander Friends bunny.

“There are 440,000 children in foster care in the United States every year,” said Vickie, co-founder and creative director. “These children often arrive with nothing. We want every one of them to have something soft to hold.”

This Easter — Sunday, April 5, 2026 — Lavender Life Company invites families to shop the Xander Friends collection and be part of the mission. Each bunny purchased directly funds the next donation, ensuring the circle of comfort continues.
